Direct answer
This pixel grid, not every 16:9 frame
1920 × 1080 contains 2,073,600 pixels and reduces to 16:9. People also call it 1080p when they mean a video frame. This page is that resolution. Other 16:9 sizes, including 1280 × 720 and 3840 × 2160, stay on the 16:9 ratio page.

Resolution is the grid
Aspect ratio answers “how wide compared with tall?”. Resolution answers “how many pixels?”. 1280 × 720 and 1920 × 1080 share 16:9 and do not share a grid. A template, a sequence setting, or a wallpaper spec that says 1920 × 1080 is asking for this grid. A spec that says 16:9 is asking for the proportion, and several grids would qualify.
The vertical counterpart is 1080 × 1920, the same pixels turned upright. It is 9:16, not 16:9. Swapping the fields is the whole change in the calculator. It does not by itself reframe a picture.
Where this size is the practical file
YouTube’s landscape preset in this tool is 1920 × 1080. Many presentation exports and desktop wallpapers use the same grid because it matches a Full HD panel one-to-one. A 4K master is 3840 × 2160, four times the pixels, still 16:9. Downscaling from 4K to this size is a resolution change. Cropping from 4:3 to this size is a ratio change. Do not mix those edits.
The screen calculator is the page that starts from a display you measured. Land here when 1920 × 1080 is already the target and you want the ratio, the pixel count, and the path back to the broader 16:9 frame list.
Examples
Against 1280 × 720
Both are 16:9. This grid has 2.25 times as many pixels.
Against 1080 × 1920
Same pixel count, opposite orientation, 9:16 instead of 16:9.
YouTube preset
The crop tool’s YouTube target is this size. The X target is 1200 × 675, also 16:9, and a different file.
