Aspect ratio 16:9

Direct answer

You know the ratio. Find the pixels.

Resolution here means the pixel width and height, not the name of the shape. Use this page when the ratio is already chosen and you need the companion dimension: 16:9 at 1920 wide is 1080 tall, 9:16 at 1080 wide is 1920 tall. Identifying an unknown ratio is the aspect ratio calculator. Naming a monitor is the screen calculator.

Quick reference

16:9 at 1920 wide1920 × 1080
9:16 at 1080 wide1080 × 1920
4:5 at 1080 wide1080 × 1350
1:1 at 1200 wide1200 × 1200

Platform data sources

Working presets and safe-zone guidance are checked against official platform documentation. Safe zones remain conservative guides because app UI varies.

How to use the lock

The fields start at 1920 × 1080 so you can see a known pair. Turn the lock on after the ratio reads the shape you want, or pick one of the ratio pages, which open already locked. Edit width to solve for height, or edit height to solve for width. Reverse flips the orientation and inverts the lock.

Rounding follows the calculator: the companion side is the nearest pixel. A locked 16:9 width of 1920 produces 1080. The same ratio at 1000 wide does not land on a famous broadcast size, and that is fine. The page is for the pixel you asked for, not only for the sizes in the table.

Ratio pages and resolution pages

A ratio page explains a proportion and lists several pixel pairs that share it. A resolution page such as 1920 × 1080 or 1080 × 1920 explains one pair. Come here when you are scaling: you picked 4:5 and you know the width must be 1080, and you need the height. The 4:5 page is where that shape is documented. This page is where the arithmetic is the whole task.

Examples

16:9 at 1920 wide

Height is 1080. That pair is also documented on the 1920 × 1080 page.

9:16 at 1080 wide

Height is 1920. The 1080 × 1920 page explains that grid. The 9:16 page explains the proportion at any size.

4:5 at 1080 wide

Height is 1350, the usual portrait feed preset in this tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is a resolution the same thing as an aspect ratio?

No. A resolution is an exact width and height in pixels. An aspect ratio is the proportion, shared by many resolutions.

Which page identifies a ratio I do not know yet?

The aspect ratio calculator. This page assumes you are keeping a ratio and solving for the other side.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Image decoding, reframing, and export happen locally in your browser. The site does not receive your image file.

Which image formats can I use?

You can open JPG, PNG, and WebP images, then export JPG, PNG, or WebP files in supported browsers.
